Despite a poor showing at the just concluded Paris 2024 Olympics, Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, Super Falcons, remain the top-ranked women’s football team in Africa.
The Super Falcons are in the 36th position globally in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking released on Friday.
The Super Falcons lost all three of their matches in Group C at the Olympics; 1-0 to both Brazil and Spain, and 3-1 to Japan.
South Africa (50th), Morocco (59th), Zambia (62nd), and Ghana (66th) respectively make up the top five African teams in the women’s world ranking.
Following their following their victorious Paris 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament, where they defeated Brazil 1-0 in the final to win their fifth Olympics gold medal, the USA have regained the top spot as the number one women’s football team in the world.
