Samuel Eto’o has been re-elected as president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), securing a second term that will run until 2029.
The former Indomitable Lions captain was returned unopposed during Fecafoot’s General Assembly held on Saturday in Cameroon’s central region, receiving 85 out of 87 votes from members of Fecafoot.
Eto’o, a four-time African player of the year, first assumed leadership of the federation in 2021, and will now serve another four-year term until 2029.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino was among the first to congratulate Eto’o on his re-election.
Eto’o enjoyed a distinguished playing career spanning more than two decades, with successes as a player for FC Barcelona and Inter Milan, among others. With Barcelona, he won multiple La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies, including the historic 2006 final. In 2010, he lifted a third Champions League title with Inter Milan in 2010 as part of the club’s famous treble under Portuguese coach José Mourinho.
Although his administrative tenure has attracted controversy, Eto’o remains Cameroon’s all-time leading scorer and is widely regarded as one of Africa’s greatest footballers.
