How Nigeria’s Oma Osele Made History at Miss Continental World 2026

Over the weekend, Nigerian beauty queen Iruomachukwu Osele, popularly known as Oma Osele, won Miss Continental World 2026 at the competition’s grand finale in Ayutthaya, Thailand.
Osele emerged winner on October 9, beating contestants representing more than 20 countries. India’s Shreeya Panda finished first runner-up, while Thailand’s Pornpaya Rianju placed second runner-up.
The Nigerian also won the Queen of Africa title, awarded to the highest-placed African contestant, and Best National Costume for her cultural presentation outfit.
The competition brings together contestants from different countries to compete for an international beauty title, providing a platform for cultural representation and personal achievement. Osele’s victory is significant for Nigeria because it combines the main crown with continental recognition and special awards, strengthening the country’s visibility in international pageantry.
The 28-year-old is a Lagos-based model, entrepreneur and medical laboratory scientist. She represented Nigeria after winning EliteGlam Pageant Nigeria 2025.
Her success follows another international recognition in September, when she won the World Premiere Award after topping the global fan vote on Eventista’s 1Vote platform. She finished ahead of India’s Monica Konjengbam and Thailand’s Pornpaya Rianju in the voting. The award included a media package featuring social media promotion and an Associated Press News press release.
Nigeria also recorded a strong result in the men’s category, as its representative, Unwana Sambo Essien, finished third runner-up at the Mister Continental World 2026 competition held on the same night. Essien also received the King of Kings title and Best National Attire award.
Osele’s victory adds to Nigeria’s recent achievements in international pageantry, including Chidimma Adetshina’s first runner-up finish at Miss Universe 2024.
As Miss Continental World 2026, Osele now has an international platform to build on her modelling and entrepreneurial work and potentially promote causes connected to her professional interests.
