Burna Boy Vs Cubana Chief Priest: Day of The Grass

The raging social media war between Burna Boy, Nigerian global music superstar and Cubana Chief Priest, self-made billionaire socialite, has all the trappings of a cheesy Nollywood hit series. But beyond the sleaze, it has helped rendered a timeless African proverb void. It is said that when two elephants fight, the grasses always suffer the consequence.  But in the case of these two titanic elephants fighting, the grasses have benefitted from the collateral spill over. Already an obscure phone repair at the famous Alaba market, who claimed to be the neglected brother of Cubana Chief priest has eased his way into bagging N45 million from Burna Boy as a fallout of the titanic fight.

It also appears that the allegedly abandoned Kenyan baby mama of the famous barman   might be reaping the windfall of the fight.  The grammy winner in a similar attempt to   pour salt on the wounds of the hotelier has promised to relocate the Kenyan woman who claimed to have had an out of wedlock child for the famous barman to Nigeria, with the promise of setting her up with a business while providing scholarship for her neglected child. These calculated moves by   the multiple award-winning singing sensation earned him the good graces of Nigerians and equally turned the tides on the war which was causing him to lose face.

In a retaliatory maneuver, Cubana Chief Priest who promised to gift millions of naira to the stage breacher Burna Boy kicked during his last performance in Lagos is yet to honour the promise. Even so, it appears there might be a fourth potential beneficiary of the fight between these two elephants.  The singer known as Speed Darlington, who has been cooling his heels in police detention for about a month for defaming Burna Boy has waltz his way into the good graces of the famous barman.  The billionaire socialite promised to channel his resources towards the release of the incarcerated singer who defamed Burna Boy by making unsubstantiated claims that the ‘African giant’ crooner’s Grammy award win was as a result of granting sexual favour to the now disgraced American music mogul P. Diddy.

Indeed, the social media fight between the two giants started when Burnaboy drew first blood by ridiculing the socialite on his Instagram post using derogatory terms such as ‘azaman’ which means fraudster and ‘Owerri Rick Ross’ to call him out. If the singing sensation had thought that the socialite would take it lying low, it turned out to be a bad miscalculation as the latter came out firing from all cylinders. Cubana Chief Priest retaliated by further fanning the embers of rumour that the singer won his grammy award by granting sexual favour to a powerful American music executive. The famous barman also added more fuel to the fire of the fight by boasting that he once paid the singer one million naira to be a backup singer at his birthday party in 2018, backing the claim up with short videos and pictures. Not relenting, the socialite further called the singer out for being a serial debtor to sportscar dealers and jewelers. Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, countered back by claiming that the billionaire’s brother was a poverty-stricken phone repairer, which kicked off the day that the grasses began to benefit from the fight of elephants.
