Africa Interviews Sustainability Forum 2025 Unveils Lineup of Speakers

Africa Interviews has announced the lineup of speakers for the second edition of its Sustainability Forum, scheduled for September 16, at the prestigious Capital Club, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Themed “Beyond Compliance: Making ESG Work for African Realities,” this year’s forum will gather top business leaders, policymakers, development partners, and sustainability experts to chart practical strategies for embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into Africa’s development agenda.

Global Energy Transition Leader and Co-founder of Lean-in Equity & Sustainability, Lamé Verre, will deliver the keynote address at the event. An award-winning energy executive with over two decades of experience across the global energy value chain, Verre is a Fellow of the Energy Institute and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council for Energy Transition. She is widely recognized as a leading advocate for clean energy, sustainability, and equity, championing a more inclusive low-carbon future.

Other confirmed speakers are the Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science & Technology, Hon. Olatunbosun Alake; Director of Governance & Sustainability at Sahara Group, Ejiro Gray; and General Manager at Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola.

A technology and business executive with 15 years of experience driving digital transformation, innovation, and data-driven decision-making across multiple industries, Alake spearheads Lagos’s Smart City projects, digital transformation, and innovation policies, positioning the state as one of Africa’s leading technology hubs.

Gray is a leading governance and ESG expert. She drives transformative corporate responsibility initiatives that deliver both business value and social impact.

A public service leader and recycling pioneer, Adebiyi-Abiola is also the founder of Wecyclers. She has transformed recycling in Nigeria while promoting innovative, community-driven sustainability solutions across Africa.

Emphasizing the significance of solutions that foster sustainable growth, Sam Umukoro, Founder and Editorial Director of Africa Interviews, noted that the forum will serve as a “critical platform for actionable ESG strategies that directly address Africa’s unique challenges.”

Also speaking on the forum’s growing impact, Lamé Verre noted that, “Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to building ESG solutions that deliver lasting impact, and this platform ensures African voices and leadership are at the heart of that conversation.”
